Aromatherapy is the use of essential oils to promote healing and a feeling of well-being and relaxation. The essential oils are extracted from specific herbs and plants and contain many of the healing properties of the plants themselves. An example would be using eucalyptus oil to treat sinus problems, as it is known to clear sinus passages.

The oil is applied in long sweeping strokes, which warms the skin and muscles and prepares the body for deep tissue massage. During aromatherapy massage, the blood is drawn to the surface, increasing circulation and encouraging the elimination of toxins from the body, which has the consequence of speeding up recovery time from any illness or injury. The end result is a feeling of complete relaxation and well-being.

There are over 30 commonly used aromatherapy oils, all having different soothing effects on the body. Oils can be mixed & matched to treat various ailments using a holistic approach. Lavender, for example has amazing therapeutic properties and is used to treat inflammation, eczema, migraines, nervous tension, rheumatism and arthritis.
